Here is our God who's come
to bring us back to him.
He is the one. He is Jesus.
I have a bag of some bedbugs that I collected from my old wooden dresser, since I wanted to have some proof for the exterminator who came last Friday to spray in case he asked. They're pretty disgusting and nasty looking and I don't like looking at them, so I decided to toss it yesterday after the spraying. Before doing that, I thought that just in case they escaped somehow, it would be good to crush their tiny carcasses so they couldn't cause any more havoc in our apartment. I looked at these tiny, ugly, disgusting bugs and I thought... they are so powerless between my fingers. Then I thought, what would it be like to be a bedbug? What would it be like to turn into one? What would it be like to die for the sake of these bedbugs?
God did that very thing. He who saw us as filthy dirty creatures became one of us. Though he was more than powerful enough to crush us, instead he became one of us and took on our just and righteous punishment to save us. Can you imagine? Can you imagine yourself as a bedbug? Can you imagine being crushed? Can you imagine yourself humbling yourself that far? I am convinced that for Jesus to become man was even more remarkable and drastic than that.
Here is our God who has come to bring us back to him.
He is the one, His name is Jesus.
